Tour Plan

DAY 1 – Cochin to Bagdogra to Gangtok | Arrival & Transfer

On arrival at Bagdogra Airport, you will be received by our representative and assisted with your journey to Gangtok. Enjoy a scenic drive through rolling hills, lush greenery and mountain landscapes as you make your way to the capital of Sikkim. Once you reach Gangtok, check in to your hotel and take some time to relax after the journey. The rest of the day is free for you to unwind or explore nearby areas at your own pace.

About Gangtok:
Located at an altitude of around 1,750 meters, Gangtok developed into the state capital in the mid-19th century and has grown into a vibrant yet peaceful hill town. It offers a blend of modern development and traditional Buddhist culture, reflected in its monasteries, architecture, and surroundings. With scenic views and a calm atmosphere, it serves as a perfect base for exploring the region.

Begin your full-day excursion to Tsomgo Lake (Changu Lake), located about 35 km from Gangtok at an altitude of approximately 12,400 feet. Surrounded by snow-covered mountains, this glacial lake is formed by melting snow and remains a striking sight throughout the year. It also carries local significance, as it is believed that Buddhist monks once observed the lake’s changing colours to predict future events. Continue to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir (New Baba Mandir), a revered site dedicated to an Indian Army soldier who is believed to still protect the region. The place holds strong emotional and spiritual value for visitors.

After spending time at these locations, return to Gangtok.

Explore Gangtok with a half-day sightseeing tour.

Visit the Flower Exhibition Centre, known for its display of seasonal flowers and orchids. Continue to Do Drul Chorten, one of the most important stupas in Sikkim, followed by the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, which focuses on Tibetan culture, history and Buddhist studies. You will also visit the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom, where traditional skills and local craftsmanship are showcased. Later, enjoy views of the city with a ride on the Gangtok Ropeway. After sightseeing, begin your drive to Darjeeling, often called the “Queen of the Hills.” The journey offers scenic views of valleys, mountains and tea gardens.

Once you arrive, complete your hotel check-in and take some time to relax.

Start early with a visit to Tiger Hill to witness the sunrise over the Himalayas. On clear days, you may see peaks like Kanchenjunga and even Mount Everest in the distance, as the mountains gradually light up in golden shades. On the way back, visit Ghoom Monastery, one of the oldest in the region, built in 1875 and home to a large statue of Maitreya Buddha. Continue to Batasia Loop and the Kanchenjunga View Point for panoramic views. Return to the hotel, followed by a city tour of Darjeeling. Visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursdays), established by Tenzing Norgay and the nearby Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (closed on Thursdays), known for rare Himalayan wildlife.

Continue to the Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre (closed on Sundays), then visit Tenzing Rock and Gombu Rock, popular spots for rock climbing. Drive past tea estates (view from outside) and conclude with a visit to the Japanese Peace Pagoda.

Entry to Tiger Hill depends on permit availability. Only a limited number of vehicles are allowed daily and passes are issued one day in advance.

Depart from your hotel and head to Bagdogra Airport for your return journey.
